Matilda The Musical, inspired by the beloved book by Roald Dahl, is heading back out on tour across the UK. Coming to the Edinburgh Playhouse from 4th – 22nd March 2026.
In celebration of 15 years on stage since opening at the Courtyard Theatre in Stratford-upon-Avon. Following performances in 100 cities across 17 countries worldwide, Matilda now returns for a UK tour.
With book by Dennis Kelly, music and lyrics by Tim Minchin and directed by Matthew Warchus. Matilda is the story of an extraordinary little girl who, armed with a vivid imagination and a sharp mind, dares to take a stand and change her own destiny.
Matilda The Musical features flashing lights, lasers and loud sound effects. Latex balloons are popped onstage and stage haze (smoke) is used. Throughout the performance actors interact in audience spaces.
This production is not suitable for children under 6 years of age. Children under 4 years of age (including babes in arms) will not be admitted into the auditorium. Children need to occupy their own seats at all times throughout the performance.
